The First Spirograph Nebula Planetary Landing

I originally visited the Spirograph Nebula on my trip to visit Orion during Easter earlier this year.  It has been a place I have wanted to return to ever since then and the opportunity to actually land there with Horizons was such an excuse.  The system is quite large with 50 celestial bodies, many of which are suitable for landing, as can be ascertained from the blue ring around the planets and moons on the system map.

The unique feature of the Spirograph Nebula is that it is a planetary nebula which has been formed from matter released from the large central B-Type star at the centre (in star catalogues BD-12 1172), the nebula is nearly a third of a light year across.

In the game the Spirograph Nebula translates to a vast region of "Green Space" which is quite unique.  I have watched so many Sci-Fi shows and movies over the years, but I have never seen anything like it. So for our first alien planetary landings CMDR Dingo77 and myself thought it was number one on the bucket list!

Planet 5 - complete with a ring had a moon with a 0.35 surface gravity, almost the same as that of Mars so we decided that would be a good place to start landing our large and heavy Imperial Clippers.

And we made it down without even a scrape!

The really cool thing about the Spirograph Nebula's green space is that it actually looks as if we have landed on a planet with a green atmosphere (maybe composed of Chlorine gas?) lol

What a view!

To me in my Buggeh, it looked as if Dingo scratched his paintwork in the dust rings of the 69 Lambada Epsilon's 4th T Tauri star! lol

Had a Blast with 1.2 Beta Wings

The ED: 1.2 Beta Wings update is awesome.  Feels much less of a solitary experience when you can stay in permanent contact with your wingmen, and find them instantly in super cruise and local space if they get into trouble.

The NPCs have also beefed up their game.  No longer will we have the standard interdiction and shoot or evade.

I got a big shock today when a lowly eagle dropped me into normal space; as I turned on him and opened my guns 4 of his buddies dropped into the fray : "oh shit".  I ran.

Later in the day I was flying in a Wing Comprising of myself @Fireytoad and CMDR Bubble.   The three of us entered a Strong Signal Source wherein lay 3 pirate Anacondas.  Another "oh shit" moment, but through teamwork we managed to defeat all three :-)

The Vulture flies like a large Viper but not half as cool to look at.   It needs more gunpoints - it only has 2 large ones - but if your intention is to sit and camp at a war zone or Nav beacon for hours then this ship is ideal for that.

The Fer De Lance? Looks like a red race car dream, sounds like a race car too. 5 weapons emplacements are a bit overkill and makes it live up to its 30-year deadly reputation.  BUT the gas tank (8 tonnes) is the size of a bucket - and spend anytime trying to travel any distance in it you will feel like you are riding a hobbled cow.  The best FSD it will take is the Cobras A4 FFS! It's given me a whole new respect for the 20 ly I am getting at the moment out if my beloved Imperial Clipper :-)

And a final note : I visited the Leonard Nimoy Station in LHS 3006 last night.

RIP Mr Spock. Frontier gave him one of the pretty palm tree stations. Thank you Frontier.
